Bracoden Pupil News
Term 2 – 3 Nov 2017
Last term we enjoyed a trip to Techfest, where we took part in a ‘Wild about Maths’ session, followed by a ‘KNEX Under The Sea session from Subsea 7. For Scottish Maths Week in September we made apple crumble. We cut up and cooked the apples and measured out ingredients to make the crumble mix.
We were planning a cafe for Scottish Maths week. We made up menus and set up the kitchen. We even designed and constructed an impressive ‘coffee machine’. We were serving on the till, adding up the shopping items and giving change. We have just finished Awful Auntie by David Walliams, as our class reader and we designed and wrote about our Fantasy Owls. Our learning context is Ancient Egypt and we have been learning about Pharoahs and the pyramids.
We have been focusing on our Maths skills during Scottish Maths Week. We planned and organised the ‘Bracoden Shoppie’, where we priced all the goods, served in the cafe and mentally counted the charges and the change. On Friday, 13th October the whole school celebrated Jeans for Genes Day and visited the Gamrie Bay Sheltered Housing to chat to the residents and sing our harvest songs, while delivering the Harvest Hampers we had collected.
